Do you live in the Uxbridge area or have ancestors that once did? Do you have an interest in the rich history of this district, stretching from important Mesolithic finds through Treaty negotiations that tried to end the English Civil War in 1645 to the bustling, diverse town of today? Then the Uxbridge Local History and Archives Society is for you!

We meet on the third Tuesday of the month between September and May (with the exception of December) at Christ Church, Redford Way, Uxbridge UB8 1SZ and also arrange occasional visits to historic sites and other events.

Ken Pearce RIP

It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of local history expert and our former chair Ken Pearce on 29th August 2026 aged 95. Ken had been a prominent voice in the community and Chair of the Society between 1970 and 2024 – an outstanding achievement. In that time he contributed numerous articles to the Uxbridge Record, wrote a whole library of books, delivered many fascinating talks informed both by his own extensive experience and his diligent research, and provided the traditional list of anniversaries before each meeting of the society. He was always keen to help other researchers. Ken leaves behind him an enormous body of work on the history of Uxbridge, and his presence will be sorely missed.
